David Soskice was Reseach Professor for "Political Economy of Industrial Change" until July 2007. From 1990 to 2001 he was Director of the Research Unit for Economic Change and Employment at the Wissenschaftszentrum für Sozialforschung (WZB).

His research unit did interdisciplinary work on comparative models of advanced capitalism: on the impact of education & training systems, financial systems & industrial relations systems on company human resource policies and product market innovation and competitiveness.

David Soskice is Emeritus Fellow in Economics at University College, Oxford University, where he taught from 1968 to 1990. He has been a visiting professor at the University of California at Berkeley, at Duke University, and at Cornell University. From April 1998 until March 1999 David Soskice was a part-time member (Research Associate on Education and Training) of the Prime Ministers Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street.
