  1984 -1993   Attended Limes-Gymnasium, Welzheim, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Degree: Abitur (general qualification for university level studies in Germany)  
 
  1994 -1996   Attended Phillips University in Marburg, Germany; majored in political science; minored in law and German literature. Degree: Vordiplom (pre-Diploma)  
 
  1996 -2001   Attended Free University of Berlin, Germany; majored in political science; teaching assistant, Department of Political Science. Degree: Diploma (Master's degree in political science) Master's thesis: Convergence in the European Union? A Comparison of the Development of Political Decision Making in the U.K., France, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany.  
 
  Aug. 2001 - Oct. 2002   Junior researcher at the WZB in the former research unit "Standard-setting and Environment"; Project: "Transnational City Networks"
