Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Kurt Biedenkopf was appointed a three-year research professorship beginning January 1, 2011.
As former rector at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, founding member of the Institut für Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft in Bonn and former Minister President of Saxony, the attorney Biedenkopf represents a bridging of politics and the academic world. In his research Kurt Biedenkopf primarily examines questions of performance of European democracies that, faced with socioeconomic and demographic change and the burden of the social insurance system, are standing before enormous challenges.
