The
Research Professorship "The Future of Fiscal Federalism" is
a continuation of the Research Unit Market Processes and Governance,
MPG, which was founded in 2001. Its purpose was to undertake
research into the governance problems of the public sector. Using a
public finance perspective, the section analysed the way existing
and alternative
governance processes
in market and state function with regard to their efficiency and
distribution effects. The social security system, public education and
taxation, including the aspect of the political strategies used by
government actors, constituted the core of the
research program.
