| Jan C. Behrends works in the research group "Civil Society, Citizenship and the Public Sphere". He has written extensively on the public sphere in Communist dictatorships which was the subject of his dissertation. Behrends has also published on xenophobia and anti-Americanism, and the leader cult. At the WZB he works on an urban history book which will compare Moscow, Chicago, and Berlin around 1900. He teaches East European History at the Humboldt University and the Free University, Berlin. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
