The WZB Social Science Center welcomes applications for the WZB Junior Research Group “Ethics and Behavioral Economics” headedby Dr. Agne Kajackaite for a position as

Doctoral Researcher

for four years starting in August 2018 (latest).

The research group aims to understand unethical behavior, particularly lying behavior, by conducting economic lab experiments. Further topics in the research focus of the group are incentives, risk preferences, and ignorance. The research group forms part of a dynamic and interactive behavioral economics community across academic institutions in Berlin, hosting i.a. weekly seminars with international speakers.

The candidate can expect to get exposure to world class academics in the field.

You are asked to contribute substantially to the research of the Junior Research Group, especially in the generation of new ideas, the design and implementation of experiments, and the publication of individual and joint research. You are expected to present your work at (international) workshops. The WZB highly welcomes further qualification towards a doctorate (at one of the Berlin universities).


  • Masters degree in Economics or Management from an internationally acknowledged university
  • Strong interest in original research in behavioral economics
  • Very good knowledge of game theory
  • Very good command of English
  • Distinctive creativity
  • Very good team and communication abilities
  • Desirable: successful completion of a structured Ph.D. coursework program (e.g. BDPEMS in Berlin); otherwise we ask you to join the Berlin program in 2018
  • Desirable: initial experience in experimental economic research

Remuneration: Pay Group 13 TVöD (in accordance with the German collective agreement) for the Public Service with the standard PhD employment of 65% of the regular working hours (currently 25.35 hours/week).
