A Predoctoral Research Fellow (f/m/x)
starting on 1 August 2019 for the duration of two years. The appointment is made at 100% of the regular working hours (currently 39 hours/week).
The WZB is a publicly financed international social science institution that conducts basic research that is theory-based and problem-oriented (see: http://www.wzb.eu/en). The research department IPI uses observational and experimental methods to study major problems related to the political economy of social and political inequality with a focus on the political economy of international development.
Tasks: The researcher will conduct research and provide research support to the research department on topics related to the unit’s thematic research areas. He or she will conduct statistical analysis, develop new instruments for data collecting, conduct literature searches, and develop manuscripts and other documents to publish research results.
Requirements: A master degree in a social science discipline or statistics is required. Statistical skills are essential including competence in R and/or STATA as well as excellent English writing and communication skills (English is the working language of the unit). Preference will be given to applicants with field work experience.
The position is ideal for a candidate with a masters in hand who wants to acquire research exposure and develop a research design and analysis skills to embark on a PhD.
Salary for the position: Group E 13 TVöD (in accordance with German public service collective agreement).
