Job description

The WZB Berlin Social Science Center is offering a position of a

Postdoctoral Research Fellow (f/m/x)

(full-time, currently 39 hours per week, 3 years).

The position is located within the research department “Skill Formation and Labor Markets”, headed by Prof. Heike Solga. The start is flexible but not later than 1 June 2020.

Job description:

  • Conducting innovative independent research on labor markets
  • Strengthening the methodological and statistical skills of the department
  • Participation in joint publications in the EU-Horizon 2020 Project “Technological inequality – Understanding the relation between recent technological innovations and social inequalities (TECHNEQUALITY)”
  • Publishing in international peer-reviewed journals

In addition to their primary research tasks, the WZB offers its researchers the possibility to teach courses at universities in Berlin or elsewhere. The WZB and the research department provide various forms of supporting the career development of young researchers.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree with excellent results (obtained or submitted) in sociology or a relevant field in social sciences
  • Outstanding knowledge of quantitative research methods
  • Excellent knowledge of labor market research
  • Articles in recognized peer-reviewed journals, either published or, in case of a very recently completed Ph.D., submitted
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of German is welcome but not required

Salary: E14 on the Wage Agreement for Public Service (TVöD) scale.
