Prof. Dr. Markus Promberger
Markus Promberger studied sociology, political science and history at Erlangen, completing his doctorate (Dr. phil.) at the Institute for Sociology and at the Social Science Research Centre of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1999. In 2001, Dr Promberger joined IAB, working initially in the Research Department "Establishments and Employment", and as of July 2005 as Head of the newly established research department "Joblessness and Social Inclusion" which was set up that year. After gaining his post-doctoral qualification and receiving his authorisation to teach (venia legendi) in sociology at the University of Erlangen in 2011, he deputised for a Chair of Sociology (education, organisation and social inequality) at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich in the summer of 2011.
Markus Promberger is a member of the German Sociological Association, the German Industrial Relations Association, the German Association of Socioeconomic Labour Market Research (SAMF), and the Scientific Advisory Board of the scientific journal "WSI-Mitteilungen". He is co-editor of the UK-based journal "Work Organisation, Labour and Globalisation" along with being an associated lecturer at the University of Erlangen. Since the beginning of 2014, he has coordinated the RESCuE project, which studies the resilience of vulnerable households in socio-economic crises.
