Stage 6: Assessment of students with disabilities by the Federal Employment Agency

Abstract

In Germany, the Federal Employment Agency takes a central role when analyzing the transition from school to vocational education/ labor market from students with disabilities. In particular, the written reports by the psychology department of the agency (Berufspsychologischer Service) are crucial to the process.

Given the centrality of the assessment through the agency, academic research has thus far not explored central questions surrounding the generation of the reports. The aim of the research project is thus to explore the process of assessment, the challenges faced by the employees of the Berufspsychologischer Service in therein as well as the types of information the experts would need for a better assessment and thus for the provision of adequate support for the young person in question.
