China and the internet

The New York Times published an article by WZB research professor John Keane under the title “The China Labyrinth.” In the article, Keane analyzes the Chinese government’s practice of steering free speech in the Internet and its use of it for government purposes. However, as inventive as those in power may be: Individual citizens consistently manage to voice their displeasure in the net. Thus in Keane’s opinion, it is questionable how long China’s government can maintain this information policy.
