“Achtung: Demokratie” is a new WZB lecture series that offers a forum for discussions that have been amplified – at the WZB and elsewhere – by the rise of right-wing populism, the Brexit referendum, and the election of Donald Trump. Liberal democracy is under pressure and has to face up to the criticism it receives. For its part, science has to determine the extent of its own engagement beyond detached analysis.
Researchers from the WZB and other institutions are invited to present their findings and discuss their take on these debates with the audience.
On October 4, 2017, Bernhard Weßels gave the series' inaugural lecture with an analysis of that year’s German federal election.
