CV

Dr. Tommaso Virgili is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the WZB  Migration, Integration, Transnationalization Department, where he works on Islamism, liberal Islam and individual rights, with a focus on Europe and the MENA region. He is also a Research Associate at the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies in Brussels and a 2023/2024 Fellow of the Merian Centre for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb (MECAM) - Université de Tunis. Previously, he worked as Programme Director at the European Foundation for Democracy in Brussels.

Tommaso holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Public Law and a Master’s degree in Law from Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, as well as a Master of Arts in Middle East and Islamic Studies with Arabic from the American University of Paris and Cairo.
