Lebenslauf

TOMMASO VIRGILI ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter der Abteilung Migration, Integration, Transnationalisierung. Er promovierte in vergleichendem Öffentlichem Recht an der Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italien. Er ist außerdem wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Wilfried Martens Zentrum für Europäische Studien und Gastwissenschaftler der European Foundation for Democracy in Brüssel. Am WZB forscht er zu Modernisierungsbewegungen und Reformtheologie innerhalb des Islams als Antwort auf die Herausforderung des Fundamentalismus, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf dem Islam in Europa und der MENA-Region. 

Tommaso hat einen Doktortitel in vergleichendem öffentlichem Recht und einen Master-Abschluss in Rechtswissenschaften von der Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa sowie einen Master of Arts in Nahost- und Islamstudien mit Arabisch von der American University of Paris and Cairo.
