The Berlin Meeting on the Political Economy of Development (MoPED) workshop offers an opportunity for scholars who focus on the political economy of development, broadly defined, to build community and foster collaboration. The workshop will consist of in-depth discussions of approximately 8 papers and/or research designs over two days. We particularly welcome works-in-progress that address (but are not limited to) governance, corruption, misinformation, conflict and violence, intergroup relations, and migration.

Berlin Meeting on the Political Economy of Development (MoPED) 2026

The 2026 workshop program included a keynote address by Melina Platas (NYU-AD), as well as paper and research design discussions with scholars from a range of international institutions. Participants were expected to read the papers and research designs for the sessions they plan to attend in advance of the workshop, with an eye toward providing actionable feedback. Authors had up to five minutes at the start of each session to introduce their project, followed by an in-depth discussion of the work.
