Workshop "Experimenting with causality: Causal inference, Brexit, and other single cases"

This workshop is part of a project we are working on jointly to try to think through strategies for making causal claims about individual cases. Researchers in quantitative traditions have often focused on estimation of average causal effects in populations. Qualitative researchers and researchers in the humanities have often sought to make causal claims for single cases. In this workshop we seek to bring together scholars using different approaches in the Social Sciences and the Humanities to discuss alternative strategies for single case inference. To make things concrete we expect at least some part of discussions to focus on understanding “the causes of Brexit.”
