Anthony Knowles is a Visiting Researcher at the WZB in the Globalization, Work and Production Research Group. His DAAD funded research project “The Electric Vehicle Transition in Germany: Challenges in Manufacturing, Adoption, and Global Competition” involves qualitative interview with German experts and consumers to better understand the German EV transition. Comparative research with the American EV transition is also ongoing in partnership with the Center for Transportation Research at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. A book comparing the development of automation in the German and American auto industries entitled Driving Productivity was also published by Brill in 2025.
