Dr. Dilek Kurban
Short bio
Dilek Kurban is a scholar of human rights law and a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg. She was most recently a Max Weber postdoctoral fellow at the European University Institute (2021-2022). She holds a PhD in law from Maastricht University and a JD from Columbia Law School. Her doctoral dissertation was published as a monograph titled Limits of Supranational Justice: The European Court of Human Rights and Turkey’s Kurdish Conflict (Cambridge University Press, 2020). Her past research focused on the impact of international law and Europeanisation processes on domestic policies concerning conflict-induced internal migration. At the WZB, her research focuses on supranational human rights courts, transnational rule of law, authoritarian regimes, and ethnic and religious minorities.
