Dr. Rebecca Kittel
Rebecca Kittel is Post Doctoral Researcher at the Freie Universität Berlin in the ERC project LOOPS (Logistics of Popular Uprisings in Competitive Authoritarian Regimes) and visiting researcher at the Center for Research on Civil Society.
In the ERC project, she analyses the backstage organisation of protests and the infrastructure of protest camps in authoritarian regimes. In her research, she also conducts research on elite communication and its effect on voter behaviour with an focus on populist actors. Methodologically, she focuses on computer-assisted quantitative methods, such as text-as-data approaches. In September 2023, she completed her dissertation on the topic "The New Politics of Party Signalling: Language Positioning and Electoral Dynamics" at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy. Prior to her doctorate, she studied Political Science at the University of Cologne.
