New WZB-Fellow: Nora Szech

Nora Szech, Professor of Industrial Economics at the University of Bamberg, has been appointed WZB-Fellow. She will be cooperating with the research unit Economics of Change.

Nora Szech has been working on auction theory, competition and market failure, employing orthodox as well as behavioral economic theory. She is complementing her theoretical work with experimental investigations. Her recent study "Morals and Markets", joint with Armin Falk and published in Science, garnered widespread international attention. The study shows how market interaction erodes moral values in an environment where participants choose between getting small payments or saving the life of a mouse.
