Prof. Maria Herminia Brandão Tavares de Almeida
Maria Herminia Brandão Tavares de Almeida is Professor of Department of Political Science and Director of the Institute of International Relations at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP). As a political scientist, she has experience in the areas of public policies and political institutions, specialising mainly in federalism and social policies. From September 29 until November 28, 2014, she was a visiting research professor at the WZB, the Global Governance Research Unit. During her time, she continued her research on public opinion and political culture on international relations in Latin America, as well as her project on Latin American responses to the rise of Brazil. She was also collaborating with the unit’s researchers within the framework of the “Contested World Orders” project.
