Or Yosefov

Or Yosefov is a doctoral researcher at Humboldt University of Berlin and a visiting researcher in the research group "Globalization, Work, and Production" (GAP). In his dissertation at the Chair of Sociology of Work, Economy and Technological Change (Prof. Dr. Philipp Staab), he examines the emergence and relevance of a contemporary civil society of war from a power- and domination-centered sociological perspective, exploring its possible trajectories in late modern societies. His focus lies on civil society organizations based on voluntary engagement that operate within, rather than outside, war-related dynamics.

At GAP, Or Yosefov worked on technological transformations of the world of work and contributed to several research projects—particularly on the use and acceptance of wearables, platform work, algorithmically governed work processes, and the self-perception of highly skilled tech employees working with large language models. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in Sociology and Political Science from Humboldt University of Berlin.

Since 2020, he has held scholarships from the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Scholarship Fund (ELES), initially in the Beck Berlin Program, and since 2025 as a research fellow in its doctoral fellowship program. His research interests include the sociology of war and violence, sociology of work and industry, political economy, and social theory.
