This interdisciplinary seminar series seeks to highlight cutting-edge conceptual and empirical work on the various political-economic dimensions of digital capitalism, with a focus on the platform economy and the growing (and increasingly contested!) role of multinational technology ‘platform’ companies.

Die Demokratie und ihre Herausforderungen standen seit 2004 im Zentrum des Forschungsprogramms der Abteilung Demokratie und Demokratisierung, die nach 18 Jahren nun ihre Arbeit beendet hat. Geleitet wurde sie bis 2020 von Wolfgang Merkel, seit dessen Emeritierung von Bernhard Weßels.
