Wie frei können Menschen ihren Alltag gestalten und ihre Bedürfnisse umsetzen, wenn sie bestimmte Orte oder Menschen nicht erreichen können - weil etwa kein Bus fährt, sie kein Geld für eine Fahrkarte haben oder die Verwandten im Ausland leben?
The "Friends of the WZB Award" was initiated in 2015 by young researchers at the WZB. It is endowed with a free prize money of one thousand Euros. Each year, the jury, consisting of researchers and members of the Förderkreis, selects well-written texts for the prize that are also understandable for non-scientists.
The transfer of social scientific research of the WZB into society is a fundamental matter for the Friends of the WZB - all forms of communicating science across borders as well as the inclusion of social issues in science. "WZB wirkt", which is awarded within the WZB, is inteded to strengthen transfer and support projects for the transfer of knowledge to society.
