Future Work Game Jam

Join our upcoming Future Work Game Jam! We will bring together developers and researchers to explore the future of work through the development of video game prototypes.

This interdisciplinary endeavor aims to experiment with collaborative work methods and foster a deep understanding of key aspects of game production. In pursuit of these goals, the diverse skills of participants, such as analytical thinking, creative problem-solving strategies, visualization expertise, and transfer orientation, will be merged in interdisciplinary teams.

The "Future Work Game Jam" will take place at the SAE campus in Berlin from Friday, November 17, 2023, starting at 5 p.m., and will continue until Sunday, November 19, 2023, concluding at 5 p.m.

Background
The video game industry employs around 85.000 people across Europe, with around 12.000 in Germany alone. It has rapidly become a central pillar of Germany's cultural and creative industries, marking a compelling success story.

Employment in the industry is intertwined with future trends: digital technologies play a pivotal role, and flexible working arrangements are the norm.

These future trends are being examined at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. The researchers delve into questions like:

  • In what way will technologies redefine everyday working life?
  • Which professions will persist, and which new ones will emerge?
  • How will the training paths for these professions evolve?
  • What defines good work anyway?
  • And how can it be guaranteed?

The Future Work Game Jam provides a framework to connect people from both fields and aims to enhance transfer between researchers and practitioners.

We look forward to your active participation!
