Dr. Sigurt Vitols is a Senior Researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, Lecturer at the Free University Berlin, Nonresident Fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies and Associate Researcher at the European Trade Union Institute in Brussels. His research interests include corporate governance, employee participation, sustainable economic development and the impact of new investment funds. He has advised the European Commission, the German Parliament, the European Trade Union Confederation and the German Trade Union Federation . He is co-editor (together with Howard Gospel and Andrew Pendleton) of the book Financialisation, New Investment Funds, and Labour: An International Comparison (Oxford University Press 2014). Other recent books include The Sustainable Company: a New Approach to Corporate Governance (co-edited with Norbert Kluge, Brussels: ETUI press 2011) and European company law and the Sustainable Company: a stakeholder approach (co-edited with Johannes Heuschmid, Brussels: ETUI press 2012) and Long-term investment and the Sustainable Company: a stakeholder perspective(ETUI 2015). He did his graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in sociology and economics.
