The Art and Science of Asking and Giving
Lecture by John Nickson
While the literature on charitable giving and fundraising has made
signgificant progress over the last years, it has focussed exclusively
on small donations. The real action for large (arts) institutions is,
however, in big donations about which the literature knows next to nothing.
John Nickson is Britain's most experienced fundraiser. He has been head of fundraising at the British Council, English National Opera, The Royal Academy of Arts and the Tate, and a board member for a number of charities. He currently acts as an advisor, mentor and volunteer with a number of education and arts organisations.
