Fiona Barker is a Lecturer in Comparative Politics at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Previously, she was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute (2007-08), and received her PhD from Harvard University in 2007. Her research and teaching focus on the political challenges of immigration, nationalism and diversity in contemporary societies. While visiting at the WZB she is working on a book manuscript that examines the politics of immigration, integration and nation-building in multi-national societies like Belgium, Canada and the United Kingdom. She has also published on issues relating to temporary labour migration, national identity, management of diversity and constitutional change in New Zealand.
