Activism Among Seniors: Development and Potential
Many senior citizens in Germany are doing volunteer work. Sixty-five to seventy-four year olds in particular are doing community service. Within this group, 33 percent (7 percent more than in 1999) are actively volunteering. Senior citizens assist each other, but also help children and youths.
In the new WZBrief Zivilengagement, WZB researcher Dietmar Dathe reports extensively on how this activism among older citizens has developed and also highlights its potential.
