What the Brexit means for Voters in Europe
“Brexit is wrong and should thus be implemented quickly” is the title of Christian Rauh’s comment on the Brexit decision on his own blog. The Research Fellow of the Research Unit Global Governance argues that accepting the majority vote in the referendum sends out a clear message to UK and EU citizens. It is important for the British voters to know that their choices do count, but they equally need to remember that this power comes with responsibility. This means that their vote is consequential - not only for the political establishment but also for their very own life circumstances. Christian Rauh writes: “In the light of equally irresponsible and populist platforms in various democracies, voters in Europe and beyond should be strongly encouraged to evaluate their options wisely.”
