Marie-Christine Fregin is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Research Unit ‘Skill Formation and Labour Markets’. She is working for the EU-Horizon 2020 project ‘Technological inequality – understanding the relation between recent technological innovations and social inequalities (TECHNEQUALITY)’. She studied Sociology, Political Science and Geography at the University of Tübingen, Germany, and in Puebla, Mexico. Starting in 2017, she has been an external PhD candidate at the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) at Maastricht University. Besides the Postdoc, she works part-time as academic consultant at INPUT Consulting gGmbH in Stuttgart, where she combines social science with Design Thinking to conduct applied research and development projects on digitalisation at the workplace. Her current academic research focuses on skill matching and outcomes, as well as on adult education, future skills and the effects of the implementation of artificial intelligence at workplaces for workers, labour, and skill demands of jobs. At INPUT Consulting, she is responsible for the ‘IBM Watson Application Study’, conducting field experiments and investigating the impact of AI at workplaces in cooperation with ROA Maastricht. This project is jointly funded by IBM and Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft Ver.di, and conducted in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS).
